The 2016 ESSENCE Festival attracted more than 450,000 multicultural attendees to New Orleans this Fourth of July weekend for its annual celebration featuring more than 100 performing artists and over 100 speakers—which included first-time appearances by Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Tyra Banks, Misty Copeland and many more.
The annual 4-day Festival, which took place June 30-July 3, featured entertainment, empowerment, and cultural experiences during the day and the world’s best performers each night.

Some of the biggest brands in the world engaged with consumers in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with brands like McDonald’s, Ford, Coca-Cola and more. The festival also featured empowerment sessions that focused on, Beauty & Style and Entrepreneurship, and Money & Power.
There were several pop-up shops, day parties and VIP events hosted by big brands to entertain social influencers in hopes to interact with them in a more emotional way.
I attended the McDonald’s VIP Pop up Shop Brunch at Essence Festival in a parking lot that was transformed into an outdoor club. The brunch featured a mobile restaurant where you could order your favorite breakfast items. Guest were greeted by McDonald’s servers who walked around with McCafe smoothies, French fries and apple snacks. Of course, I indulged. 🙂
